The autoprotolysis constant of n-butanol is determined at 25° potentiometrically with the aid of the two cells: Glass electrode / HCl(m), BuOHD // ZnCl2 (sat.), BuOH, Hg2Cl2, Hg and Glass electrode / KOH(m), BuOH // ZnCl2 (sat. ), BuOH, Hg2Cl2, Hg The mean activity coefficients (g±) of hydrogen chloride in n-butanol are compared to the corresponding theoretical values.
