Abstract

The present study was aimed at evaluating the anti-inflammatory action and toxicity of seven N-[-l-(p-nitrophenyl)-l,3-dihydroxy isopropyl]-N'-(substituted) oxamides (1). The compounds are designed to include the following moieties: anthranilic and p-aminosalicylic acids and p-aminophenol in their basic structures. Two dose levels of these compounds were assessed for their anti--inflammatory property in rate by the trypan blue method and using acetyl salicylic acid as the reference anti-inflammatory agent. Median lethal doses of the compounds were determined in mice.
The possible correlation between structure and biological activity is suggested.
